SHR is the latest technology in laser hair removal and is more comfortable for clients when compared to traditional IPL Laser.

SHR technology combines IPL technology with pulsating light which allows us to achieve a more comfortable treatment compared to traditional Laser & IPL while also giving superior results and being gentler on your skin! Because SHR works differently than traditional laser or IPL machines, this technology is gentler to the skin which means we can treat all skin colours!

SHR uses new technology that gradually heats the skin until the required level of heat/energy is delivered directly to the hair follicle, all without causing trauma to skin that contains high pigment count or dark skin types! This unique method also allows for increased treatment results in lighter hair although this type of hair does require more sessions than darker hair.

As for all methods of permanent hair removal, it works by killing the hair growth from an individual follicle. However, certain hormonal changes, medication or disorders can stimulate new follicles to grow. A hair follicle successfully treated by SHR will never grow hair again.

A full consultation and patch test is required before all treatments.

BEFORE THE TREATMENT

Tanned skin can be treated provided the tan is not active. Therefore, avoid direct sun exposure to the area being treated for at least 5 days prior to treatment.

The use of fake tan must be discontinued 2 weeks before the treatment. Please ensure all tan is scrubbed away prior to your treatment.

You must avoid bleaching, plucking or waxing the hair for 6 weeks prior to treatment and do not wax, epilate, pluck or remove hair by any other means than shaving during the course of treatment.

Do not use depilatory creams 1 week prior to treatment.

If you have a history of cold sores, Zovirax and a course of Lysine tablets may be used prior to treatment and continued one week after treatment (when treating the lip area).

If you have been on antibiotics we as that you leave 2 weeks between finishing the course and having an SHR treatment.

The area to be treated must be shaved on the day of treatment, however shaving directly before your treatment may make the skin more sensitive so please allow sufficient time in between.

A broad spectrum SPF30+ must be applied whenever exposed to the sun.

AFTER THE TREATMENT

In rare cases on sensitive skin there may be a sunburn like redness that can last for 1-3 days, apply a soothing lotion such as Aloe Vera or cool packs (not ice) at home if required.

Do not shave or apply deodrant/perfume to the area for 24/48 hours to reduce any skin irritation.

There may be swelling that can last up to 48 hours – apply cool packs at home if required.

Avoid very hot baths, sauna, hot tubs/jacuzzi, massage or athletic activities  for 2-3 days.

The skin may have increased sensitivity to sunlight and therefore we advise you use an SPF30+ sunscreen and avoid sun exposure and solarium treatments for at least 14 days after the SHR treatment.

Rarely there may be some itching of the skin. Avoid scratching the skin. You can take an antihistamine eg Piraton to alleviate this irritation, which should settle after 1-3 days.

Avoid using any skincare that contains AHA, Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid or Retinoic Acid  (e.g Retin A) for 3-5 days.

You may start to gently exfoliate the skin after 3-5 days to remove the flaky dead skin that commonly forms after SHR treatments.

It is important to maintain a good skincare routine with frequent hydration or moisturisation on a daily basis.
